Devices

  • The following devices may be connected to the Data Network Port: Laptop computers, Desktop computers, Network Attached Storage, Shared Printers, and unmanaged hubs and switches.
  • VoIP Phones Approved by Capanis Networks are the only devices that may be connected to the Voice Network Jack.
  • Routers, Hardware Firewalls, Wireless Routers, and Wireless Access Points are strictly forbidden. Accordingly, using a computer or any other device to perform the function of any of these devices is strictly forbidden.
  • If you are not sure if your device is permitted in Sunshine please open a work order prior to plugging it in under the heading Internet Service and a Community Office Manager will assist you.

Usage

  • All well known, and blockable P2P file sharing protocols have been blocked on our network. Do not attempt to use said protocols, evade the blocking mechanism, or use P2P file sharing protocols on our network that are not currently blocked.
  • Any illegal activity is obviously strictly forbidden.
  • Violation of the Terms of Service for any third party service and/or website from our network is strictly forbidden. (examples: Spamming Craigslist, automated Google searches, etc)
  • Serving content for public facing servers is strictly off limits. This includes but is not limited to: public file sharing, web servers, email servers, and similar services.
  • Outbound port 25 is blocked from our network. This means you need an outbound email provider that has access on a port other than 25.
  • Capanis Networks is the exclusive VoIP provider for Sunshine Suites. Use of VoIP services from other providers is not allowed.

Violations

  • We try to be extremely open and accomodating with our network policies, breaking these rules puts the entire community's access at risk. For this reason we are extremely strict with the above limited rules. If you are unsure about an issue ASK FIRST.
  • Violators of these policies will have their License terminated and will be removed from the network and power grid without prior warning.
  • We reserve the right to determine what constitutes abuse of the network services, as well as the right to remove individual access, devices or other equipment from the network without any prior notice.
